The First Time I Heard Steinhatchee

The first time I ever heard the word Steinhatchee, I was on a fishing trip with a guide out of Tarpon Springs.

As we talked, the captain said he would like to open a redfish and trout fish camp. I asked where. He said, “Steinhatchee.” I had never heard of it, but the name stuck.

A while later, I drove down from Jackson, Georgia to see what was there. That drive became the first step toward Living the Hatch Life™ — a brand inspired by a town I found by accident and kept returning to on purpose.
